Amy Pauszek, a distinguished alumna of Lawrence Central High School, reflects on her journey since graduating in 1984, which has been shaped significantly by her experiences in theater, sports, and student council. Her time at Lawrence Central sparked a passion for the arts, particularly theater, which set the stage for her career path.
Amy has achieved notable success as a producer of films and shorts, a role she embraced after initially volunteering with the Heartland Film Festival. Over 18 years, she progressed from volunteer to filmmaker, focusing on impactful documentaries that tackle important issues such as the opioid crisis and celebrating local figures like painter Nancy Noelle. Her short film "Grateful," highlighting an ALS survivor, has earned international acclaim, and was featured prominently at Heartland.
In addition to her filmmaking, Amy serves on the board of directors of Heartland Film Festival as well as the society editor for Sophisticated Living magazine, covering social events and charities in Indianapolis and beyond. She finds great joy in this role, which allows her to stay connected to her community and showcase its vibrant culture.
Amy credits her education at Lawrence Central and the support of her family and peers for her success. She remains deeply rooted in Lawrence and the surrounding community, working to make a meaningful impact through her films. As she puts it, "To give is to receive, and to receive is to give," reflecting her philosophy of contributing positively to her Hoosier community.
